I want to share a story of God's amazing connections and provision. As many of you know, my Mom grew up in China as the daughter of missionaries. She and my father had a big heart for China. After China opened up they led some of the first tours to China.
My father also taught there for a semester when I was in college. When he was there teaching, a young woman asked him to sponsor her to come to the United States. He saw a lot of promise in her and so he agreed (my parents had already sponsored 3 other students). When she came, she was great company for my Mom as all of us were living out of the house. I was actually living in Venezuela (as a single, before I met Hjarman).
My Mom even gave her, her English name, Julia. She taught her how to drive and encouraged her to adapt to America. Which she did - quickly. She was a part of our family and even attended my wedding. Then Julia moved out to California where she started a little online eyeglass company with her new husband. Today that company is Zenni Optical. The largest online eyeglass company in the world. Through the years we have kept in touch and she is always generous to us as a family.
Julia is now a millionaire. However, she learned about generosity from my parents. She is now putting generosity into practice by providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical workers. Through her company she has provided over 700,000 masks. She has a link for medical workers to make requests for equipment. Please pass the word and share the link. Check it out. I'm so blessed to know that my parents have left a legacy that continues to impact the world. The message for all of us, is that you never know what an act of kindness will do to impact the world.
