Key Scripture: Acts 1:1-11
God is present today as the Holy Spirit, enabling intimacy with God and personal transformation. When Jesus returned to heaven after his resurrection, he instructed his disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit. “Wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 1:4b-5). The greatest gift we can receive is the filling of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit, also referred to as “counselor” in Isaiah 9:6 and John 14:26, changes us from the inside out, helps us understand spiritual truths, draws us closer to God, guides and directs our lives, and gives us the ability to witness.
