What is Celebrate Recovery?

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12-step recovery program at Oakdale Church in Montgomery County, Maryland. Created at Saddleback Church, the Celebrate Recovery program includes anonymous recovery meetings, recovery lessons, share groups, step study groups, recovery testimonies, and chip nights.

Based on the words of Jesus, Celebrate Recovery at Oakdale Church helps people find freedom from anxiety, depression, sexual addiction, porn addiction, drug and alcohol abuse, food issues, grief, relationship issues, past abuse, anger, shame, codependency, compulsive behaviors and all other issues making life unmanageable.

Here are the Celebrate Recovery share group guidelines:

1. Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Please limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes.

2. There is NO cross talk please. Cross talk is when two people engage in a dialogue during the meeting. Each person sharing is free to express feelings without interruptions. Interruptions also include doing other activities (eating, looking at phone, etc.) and not providing eye contact while members are sharing.

3. We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” one another.

4. Anonymity and confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.

5. Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group.
