Empowering Kids to be disciple-makers

We’re dedicated to partnering with parents to help children become fully devoted followers of Christ. Through age-specific lessons, and disciple-making activities, children ages birth-5th grade learn biblical truths and real-life lessons they can apply to their lives every week in Oakdale Kids.

Is your family new to Oakdale Church?
We would love to know more about your family and connect with you.

What to Expect

Three is a great number. There are three persons in the Holy Trinity (God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit) and there are three key ingredients in a child's spiritual formation:

  • God

  • You, the parents/guardians

  • Oakdale Church

We consider it a joy and privilege to sow into the Kingdom of God as we teach your children. Our three ministry goals are to:

  1. Empower children by helping them encounter God’s love

  2. Empower parents by sharing spiritual growth resources

  3. Empower leaders to grow in their gifts and callings in children’s ministry

Thank you for allowing us to be part of your family and child's life!

* Join us every Sunday for ONLINE Kids Service at 10:30-10:50 AM (Preschool) and 2:00-2:25 PM (Elementary) via Zoom. It's a time of sharing thanks, a mini-teaching principle from Scripture and an online game like Kahoot! Bible Quiz (Preschool will have craft time). Sunday Services

Currently, due to Covid19 restrictions, we are not offering Nursery, Preschool or Kids Ministry services at 9am.

Pre-School In-Person: Join us for Outdoor Preschool Service on Sundays @ 10:30 am! We are currently learning about kids (just like yours!) who trusted God and were even used by Him. This is a time for families to learn and play together. Registration is Required

Elementary Online: Zoom Kids Service at 1:30pm

Elementary In-Person: Come to the outdoor prayer and praise service with your family. Bring chairs. Mrs. Ginny will call the elementary age kids to the side for a message and game following the first worship set. After the children's service there will be a "free wheels time" in the parking lot. Please bring your bikes/skates/blades and helmets. We will be distancing but feel free to bring masks.

Oakdale’s Nursery Ministry (for infants to age 2) serves kids and parents by providing a warm and safe environment filled with caregivers, toys and play areas. Our nursery is located in the Sprouts Room of Emory Hall and is available during Sunday morning worship times (9:00 & 11:00 a.m.). We’d love to meet you and your little one! For the protection of our children, all nursery ministry staff have received Safe Sanctuaries training.

Preschool
We offer Preschool Ministry for children ages 2 thru 4 years old during our 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning worship service. During the 11:00 a.m. service, preschool-aged children are encouraged to join the Sprouts room where Nursery Staff will provide childcare.

Our Goal - Introduce children to God their Creator, Jesus their Friend and Holy Spirit their Comforter.

We use crafts, games, and playtime to encourage each child to demonstrate the fruits of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and the ever-popular self-control!)

Preschool Check-In
Every parent should check-in your child at the TouchPoint check-in table in the main foyer, using the orange iPads and your phone number. Each child will get a security name tag which s/he should wear so it is visible. The parent will receive a corresponding security tag which you will show to pick up your child.

Elementary
Join us for Elementary worship (Kindergarten-5th grade) during our 9:00 AM Sunday morning worship service. Children who come to 11 AM service should join their parents in the main service for covenant family worship.

All children will meet for corporate worship in the kids' Worship Room (Children’s wing on the 2nd floor). After worship, kids meet in age-specific small groups for a deeper look at the message that was shared during service and the chance to fellowship and build relationships with each other.

  • Note: Under supervision, the 4th and 5th graders will walk over to the Bready Building for their small group time. Teachers will walk them back to the Kids' Worship Room for pick up after service.

Our Goal - To see children raised up as disciple-makers who boldly share the Gospel with friends.

Our curriculum centers on two commandments given by Jesus:  Love God and Love your neighbor. Every Sunday, we will explore and walk out His commandments through Bible-based teachings and activities.

Elementary Check-In
Check-in your child at the TouchPoint check-in table in the main foyer. Kids may walk up to the Kids' Worship Room or you may escort them. It is required that families check-in and pick up their children from the Kids' Worship Room after service, in accordance with our Safe Sanctuary Policy. For their protection, no child will be permitted to leave the Kids' Worship Room without a parent or guardian.

All Elementary ministry staff have received Safe Sanctuaries training.

Faith at Home

Weekday Discipleship

Oakdale Kids Ministry is not merely interested in getting more kids to church on Sunday - we're more interested in seeing the love of Christ get into THEM! We are here to help you make disciples at home, perhaps the greatest mission field parents face.  We hope you'll allow us to come on this journey with you. Check out this helpful article on being genuine parents!

There are three key areas where we can help nurture our kids' faith:

Pray

We believe prayer is where our hearts' desires change so that we become more like Christ. The place of prayer is also where we surrender ourselves to God's heart to see a generation of children come alive in God, our church thrive in a spirit of unity and our community become disciple-makers.

Every Wednesday
Join us for Extraordinary Prayer with worship by Richard Lee on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Normally we meet in Brigham Hall but for now we are praying together online via Zoom.

Kids are welcome to join! There is no better place to raise kids than in the place where they see mom and dad hanging out with God.

(Discover) the Word

1. Each person shares something s/he is thankful for
2. Pick a Story from the Bible (the gospel of Mark is a great place to start!)
3. Have two people re-tell or act out the story
4. Ask: "What does this story tell us about what God is like?"
5. Ask: "What does this story tell us about people?"

SHARE

6. Who can you share this story with?
- some suggestions: Draw a picture of the story and send it snail mail! Write a letter telling a friend what you learned about God from the story. Facetime with Grandma or Grandpa and tell them about what you learned from the story.

Shine Choir

[Shine is currently on hold due to gathering concerns. Please stay tuned!]

SHINE kids' music team provides children in grades 2 through 5 with an opportunity to worship God through song and ukulele. SHINE meets every Wednesday (Sept-May) from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in The Music Room.

Our primary focus is praise and worship as children learn songs from a variety of Christian music genres. Children are given music instruction, encouragement and an opportunity to explore their own musical gifts. All children are invited to come and share their own personal faith and commitment to Christ through music.
