Celebrate Recovery

What is Celebrate Recovery? Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered 12 step recovery program at Oakdale Church in Montgomery County, Maryland. Created at Saddleback Church, the Celebrate Recovery program includes anonymous recovery meetings, recovery lessons, share groups, step study groups, recovery testimonies, and chip nights.

Looking for a local recovery meeting near you? Based on the words of Jesus, Celebrate Recovery at Oakdale Church helps people find freedom from anxiety, depression, sexual addiction, porn addiction, drug and alcohol abuse, food issues, grief, relationship issues, past abuse, anger, shame, codependency, compulsive behaviors and all other issues making life unmanageable. Join us to find freedom from your hurts, habits, and hang-ups!

The CR guidelines are:

 Keep your sharing focused on your own thoughts, feelings, and actions. Please limit your sharing to 3-5 minutes.

 

There is NO cross talk please. Cross talk is when two people engage in a dialogue during the meeting. Each person sharing is free to express feelings without interruptions. Interruptions also include doing other activities (eating, looking at phone, etc.) and not providing eye contact while members are sharing.

 

We are here to support one another. We will not attempt to “fix” one another.

 

Anonymity and Confidentiality are basic requirements. What is shared in the group stays in the group. The only exception is when someone threatens to injure themselves or others.

 

Offensive language has no place in a Christ-centered recovery group.

What to Expect

LARGE GROUP

We come together to worship and hear a recovery based teaching or personal testimony of a changed life. Our large group gathering meets in Brigham Hall at 7PM on Thursdays.

OPEN SHARE

We break into separate gender-specific and issue specific groups where each person is safe to share their struggles and victories with others. If you are new to Oakdale Celebrate Recovery, please email Mary Kay Isaacs, , to get connected to a share group.

STEP STUDIES

Step studies are a safe place to work through the Christ-centered 12 steps in a gender-specific group. It is a place where the “why” behind addictions and destructive behaviors are uncovered and freedom can be found.

Celebration Place for Kids

A ministry for children from K-5th grade whose parents attend the Celebrate Recovery program every Thursday from 7-9 PM.

Celebration Place is designed to equip kids with practical coping techniques, effective strategies, and Christ-centered values to help them overcome the cycle of dysfunction in their families and learn to express their emotions and feelings in healthy ways.

Every Thursday night children have a time of worship, participate in fun games, and listen to a Christ-centered lesson on how to depend on Jesus to heal their hurts.

The Celebration Place program mirrors Celebrate Recovery's teaching schedule and curriculum plan, so while adults explore topics that bring healing and wholeness, their kids are discovering the same truths in age-appropriate and fun ways!
