Key Scripture: Matthew 6:1-13
Jesus does not encourage us to pray for answers regarding the source of evil, only our response to evil. When bad things happen to good people, we always ask “Why?” The Bible tells us that in this world even those who are faithful to God will have difficulties. We want to understand evil because we want to be in control. But we need to accept that God is sovereign and we will never be able to completely understand the nature of evil. C.S. Lewis wrote, “Only those who resist temptation know how strong it is. That is why bad people, in one sense, know very little about badness. They have lived a sheltered life by giving in. We never find out the strength of the evil impulse inside us until we try to fight it.” Jesus says that we should pray to God for wisdom and help about our response to evil.
Viviendo en Oración: el problema del mal

Jesús no nos anima a orar en busca de respuestas sobre el origen del mal, sólo nuestra respuesta al mal. Cuando suceden cosas malas a la gente buena, siempre nos preguntamos “¿Por qué?” La Biblia nos dice que en este mundo, incluso aquellos que son fieles a Dios tendrán dificultades. Queremos entender el mal porque queremos tener el control. Pero tenemos que aceptar que Dios es soberano y que nunca será capaz de entender completamente la naturaleza del mal. C.S. Lewis escribió: “Sólo aquellos que se resisten a la tentación saben lo fuerte que es. Es por eso que la gente mala, en un sentido, saben muy poco acerca del mal. Han vivido una vida protegida, donde nunca nos damos cuenta de la fuerza del impulso mal dentro de nosotros hasta que tratamos de luchar contra ella.” Jesús dice que debemos orar a Dios por sabiduría y ayuda acerca de nuestra respuesta al mal.
