Oakdale’s mission ministry equips ordinary people to go, and do extraordinary things carrying the love of Christ. Through discipleship, we connect people with volunteer opportunities within the church, the community, the nation, or around the globe based on their spiritual gifts, passions, life experiences, and personality.
"We must be global Christians with a global vision because our God is a global God." —John Stott
“You did not choose me, I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit." —John 15: 16 NIV
Jen and Jim Forrest, from Rockville, Maryland, are both civil engineers serving with Engineering Ministries International (EMI) in South Africa. They have three adult children living in the states. Jen taught engineering and technology at Rockville and Sherwood High Schools and now serves as the EMI South Africa intern coordinator. Jen mentors, disciples and coordinates all the logistics for interns who come to work with EMI. In January 2021 four new interns, all from different countries, will be coming. Jen also looks for opportunities to work with students from local schools to assist with STEM advancement and discipling them in their walk with Christ. Jim previously worked as a project manager with the Department of Veterans Affairs. He is now managing a wide range of construction projects throughout the Cape Town area and southern Africa. These construction projects include the building of churches, community centers, facilities for to empower businesses for women and more. Each year, EMI completes over 80 development projects worldwide to serve the poor and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Please pray for the new interns as they arrive for orientation beginning January 20th. In addition, please pray for the funds needed to begin construction of a new building for the Church of the Holy Spirit. This project will expand the church’s outreach to the local community.
