Key Scripture: Ephesians 4:17-32
When you commit to following Jesus and becoming part of his team, then the behavioral expectations that Paul outlines in Ephesians begin to apply. Life-change is a must for followers of Jesus. But many churches today have watered down the standards for being a follower of Jesus and a member of His Church. As a result, half the team doesn’t even bother to show up for “practice” on Sundays. Others resent that there are requirements to be on the team, so they participate halfheartedly. In the United Methodist Church, we ask members to do five things: Pray for each other; be present regularly in worship; give their financial resources; serve others; and commit to grow in their love of and obedience to Jesus. If you’re on the team, we expect you to be “all in.”
